RNIB's Techshare conference

Last week I attended the RNIB's Techshare conference.

I had a bit of a disaster getting there and managed to do a full circle around New Street in the rain before I managed to get to the venue. however after i finally arrived I was pleased to have made it for the keynote speaker Judy Brewer, who had cancelled a conference I attended earlier in the year. As the director of the W3C's WAI it was very interesting to hear what she had to say about the version 2 of the guidelines, due for release soon.

I was also pleased to learn about creating accessible PDFs on Adobe's stand. Something that could prove very useful.

The second day had less relevant presentations, but the open panel made it worthwhile alone. Three very charasmatic blind experts in their fields talked about how technology had changed their lives. Chaired by the MEP Liz Lynne is was very engaging and entertaining, whilst informative.

It might not have been quite specific enough to my field for me, but it was still worthwhile overall.
